I’m gonna try to get you promoted. Seriously.
Today’s newsletter gives you a tool I’ve used for over a decade now to negotiate raises, land interviews, and secure multiple Director of Social jobs throughout my career. It’s the third & final template from my partnership with Adobe Express, where I’m rebuilding all my favorite social strategies into remixable assets for you to download!
Let’s talk about how to show your work.
—Jack Appleby
Alright, social pros—pencils down for a sec.
I know you’re in flow state and crankin’ out the next social post, making sure the content calendar’s jampacked, but you’re not taking enough time to track all the amazing work you’re doing.
I wanna help you get better at documenting your wins.
We both know how this goes. You’ll want a raise or promotion, or you’ll get a big job interview, then you’ll frantically try to find stats from your best social campaigns to justify that next big pay bump.
So today, I’m teaching you the case study process I’ve been using for years to track my work
All you need is one page
Here it is: the exact case study format I’ve used on more multi-million dollar marketing campaigns than I can count.
Even better: you’re looking at a template I built in Adobe Express that’s totally free for you to use! Click right here to access it, remix it, toss in your own data, and start advocating for yourself.
I’ll walk through each element quickly for ya.
BRAND NAME: Hopefully self-explanatory…
CAMPAIGN NAME: This can be an official campaign name (World Cup 2026) or a seasonal moment (Summer Solstice Campaign) or even a content pillar (How It Works Content Series). If it doesn’t have an official name, name it yourself!
WHAT IT IS: One or two paragraphs describing the initiative. What was it, where’d you put it, who was it made for. If someone only reads this section, they should understand the full scope of the work.
WHY IT WORKS: One or two paragraphs explaining the strategic thinking behind the idea. Why you chose this approach, what audience insight drove it, what made it resonate. This is the part that separates "we posted some stuff" from "we had a strategy and it worked."
THREE KEY STATS: Yes, I’m limiting you to three! Pick the three numbers that prove the success of the campaign. Context matters more than anything—drop the extra info beneath the numbers or toss it in the Why It Works section.
That’s it. That’s the whole thing.
Make ‘em while the campaign’s still warm
I got this format from an old boss at Ayzenberg Group, my first advertising agency. She straight up wouldn’t let us start a new project until we turned in a case study on whatever we just wrapped up. Young me found it annoying, old me is so glad—I’ve got 50+ of these things lying around now from across my whole career.
Not only should you write the one-pager as soon as the work’s done, but you should actively look for more chances to write case studies! Maybe it’s a single post that popped off, or some specific gathering of posts that worked well. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING.

I think it’s absurdly cool that Adobe Express asked me to build educational tools for social media pros right in their system.
